Chromatic Tension
Challenge
Transform the original gel-lit fashion portrait into a more immersive editorial image while preserving the intensity and dimensionality of the cyan and orange lighting. The challenge was to extend the existing color relationship into the environment, maintain believable skin and material response under saturated light, and improve the separation of the black lace garment without weakening the dramatic contrast that defines the photograph.
Retouching
The portrait was refined through controlled skin work, selective Dodge & Burn and detailed tonal shaping to preserve natural texture under highly saturated gel lighting. The black garment received targeted finishing to strengthen the separation between opaque fabric, lace, transparency and the skin beneath, while hands, hair and edge transitions were carefully balanced for consistency. The original cyan and orange lighting was extended into a reconstructed atmospheric background, with subtle tonal variation and light contamination reinforcing depth and spatial integration. Final color grading refined saturation, contrast and complementary color balance while preserving the bold, graphic character of the original lighting.
