Luminous Drift
Challenge
Build a believable underwater fashion scene from an isolated studio capture while preserving the model’s natural pose, proportions and fabric detail. The challenge was to create a convincing relationship between the subject and the environment through light, color, depth and atmospheric movement, transforming a minimal source image into a cinematic composition without losing its photographic character.
Retouching
The composition was developed through detailed subject isolation, environmental reconstruction and atmospheric integration. Cyan volumetric lighting was built around the architectural skylight and extended across the model through controlled light spill, tonal shaping and selective color contamination on the skin, hair and dress. Bubbles, suspended particles and depth variations were introduced to reinforce the underwater environment, while fabric and edge transitions were refined to preserve a natural sense of movement. Final color grading unified the subject and environment into a cinematic palette while maintaining photographic texture and dimensional separation.
